Join the Friends of Ramapo Now
Membership in the Friends of Ramapo comes with many benefits.聽 When you join at the Friends PLUS level, one of the best benefits is the opportunity to audit up to three courses per year.聽 You can take one in the fall, one in the spring and one during the summer session.聽 It is easy to become a Friends member and to register to audit a course…just follow the steps below:
*It is recommended that you read the steps completely first.聽 Then follow each item.聽 Email friends@ramapo.edu with any questions.
1. Join the Friends of Ramapo at the “Plus” membership level.*
Friends PLUS Membership is $150/year.聽 Your membership needs to be renewed annually.聽 Click the button above to sign up for membership online now.聽 You may also join by mail. If you need to join by mail click here and scroll down to “How to become a member”.
Please note:
- Alumni of Ramapo College do not need to join the Friends of Ramapo to audit a course
- Current Ramapo degree-seeking students both undergraduate and graduate, are not eligible for Friends of Ramapo membership
2. Audit Registration for Fall 2026 will be held in person on Wed., September 2,
10 am to 2 pm – Bill Bradley Center – Game Room
We kindly ask that you submit your completed form in either format no later than 3 business days prior to the registration date. This will allow us time to process it and get it ready for your registration. Please note that you are only able to take one course throughout the entirety of the semester.
Please be advised that your bill may not instantly reflect your Friends of Ramapo tuition waiver.聽 Please review it again a few days after receiving your confirmation email. Please note that course fees are the responsibility of the auditor.
3. Review Available Courses聽
As indicated above our courses may be delivered in various modes.
There are聽available courses聽each semester for alumni of Ramapo to audit.聽 Click the 鈥淐ourse Availability鈥� button below to get started and see what courses are available in real time. Please note that graduate-level聽courses, adult degree聽courses (course number ending in the -60’s) and聽courses聽with field work (such as nursing, social work, etc.) are not available for course audit. Follow the bullets below to navigate the system.
- Select the upcoming semester term under 鈥淪elect A Term鈥� and click 鈥淐ontinue鈥�
- Choose at least one subject area聽of interest
- Click the “Open Sections Only” to choose available classes
- Click the 鈥淪earch鈥� button
- Click the course title you are interested in for more information
- Check how many seats are remaining under 鈥淪tatus鈥�
- There must be at聽least ONE (1)聽seat available to register for this course.
4. Identify several courses you may be interested in taking in case your first choice(s) is not available.
There is a course description for every class offered.
- If you would like to know more about the class before registering, please contact the professor directly via email. They can tell you about content and how the class is run鈥攍ecture, small groups, etc.
- Once you are registered for a class you may drop it but there is no opportunity to select another and no refunds. Please choose carefully.
5. Ask for and obtain a waiver from the professor for any pre-requisites prior to registration (if applicable.)
- Please contact the professor directly by email or phone to request a waiver for pre-requisites.聽 If appropriate, the professor can immediately note the waiver on your record via computer and confirm it was handled in their email reply to you.
- Email the reply from the professor to friends@ramapo.edu and alumni@ramapo.edu.
6. Submit your Pre-registration Form
- You may use our Pre-Registration and Data form in Google Doc Format to submit it directly to us upon completion of the form.
- You may also use the downloadable version of the form.聽 Complete it, save it to your computer and email it to alumni@ramapo.edu.
- Also forward any required pre-requisite waiver messages you received from a faculty member
We kindly ask that you submit your completed form in either format no later than 3 business days prior to registration. This will allow us time to process it and get it ready for your registration. After receiving and processing your forms, we will be ready to register you. If you do not submit your forms 3-days prior to registration, your request may not be accommodated.聽
7. Registration
In person registration will take place on September 2 from 10 am to 2 pm in the Bradley Center Game Room. You can arrive anytime during that window. Please check in first and then place your name on a sign in sheet to meet with the Registrar. You will be registered in the order in which you arrived.
For remote registration, you will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar to confirm what class you鈥檝e been placed into. Please read your confirmation message when you receive it and follow the steps to activate your Ramapo email account (if you have not already done so in a prior semester). You will also receive access to your course on Canvas a few hours after registration.
8. Complete the Financial Responsibility Agreement
After registration occurs, sign the new Financial Responsibility Agreement on聽.听颁濒颈肠办听here for pdf instructions on how to access the Agreement in Web Self Service. Please note that although this program is tuition-free, auditors are still responsible for their books, course materials and any associated course fees.
9. Email your Professor Before the Start of the Semester
It is highly recommended that you email the instructor of the course you plan to register for before the beginning of the semester and introduce yourself as an audit student.聽 You may wish to remind them that registration for Friends is after the official start of the spring semester but that you plan to join the class as soon as possible.聽 You may also ask the instructor to share their expectations for audit students that join their class.
10.聽 Update your Emergency Contact Information
Please make sure your emergency contact information is up to date in Web Self Service. If you have not yet completed this, please follow the steps below:

- Click on the Personal Information link located on the Personal Information Tab
- Click View Emergency Contacts
- Review the Emergency Contact Information display
*Please note that courses may close during the day of registration.聽 It is important to identify several course options.聽
Currently enrolled students are not eligible for membership in the Friends of Ramapo.
Membership in the Friends of Ramapo is a privilege and it may be permanently withdrawn for violations of College policies or procedures.
Memberships are active for one year from the receipt of the application and payment.聽聽
