{"id":5,"date":"2013-04-22T12:39:07","date_gmt":"2013-04-22T16:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2025-10-03T16:16:22","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T20:16:22","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/","title":{"rendered":"Ramapo Green"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Welcome to the Campus Sustainability Hub!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When we care about sustainability<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">we certainly DO care about the environment\u2026!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But we never lose sight of:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><b>People<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Planet<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Profit<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taken Together<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now, and Into the Future\u2026!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>This<\/strong> is the frame, from inside of which, we believe <strong>all choices<\/strong> should be made<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Contextual Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ramapo Green is a &#8220;brand&#8221; that was created some time before this entire initiative began.\u00a0 This brand, Ramapo Green, was usurped for an idea we had at the back of our mind&#8211;and that was to <strong>infuse sustainability as a way of thinking<\/strong> and as a &#8220;worldview&#8221; through every single choice that is made within the College.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A committee at the College was established when the College signed on to the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), in November 2007.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2010, the committee became the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/pccs\/\"><strong>President&#8217;s Committee On Campus Sustainability (PCCS)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This whole process grew into this<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/\">\u00a0<b>Ramapo Green website<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and culminated in a very particular<\/span>\u00a0articulation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/sustainability\/\"><strong>what sustainability ought to mean<\/strong><\/a>.<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Since its founding in 1969, Ramapo College of New Jersey has had a clear commitment to <a title=\"Sustainability\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/sustainability\/\">sustainability<\/a>.\u00a0 As the world around us has come to realize the importance of renewable energy, pollution control, the elimination of waste and the adoption of &#8220;green practices,&#8221; we have renewed our commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>With the opening of Ramapo College&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ssec\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sharp Sustainability Education Center<\/a>, the establishment of sustainability as a fundamental principle, and the signing of <a href=\"https:\/\/secondnature.org\/signatory-handbook\/the-commitments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Second Nature&#8217;s Climate Commitment<\/a>, Ramapo College continues to dedicate itself to creating a more sustainable campus.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a class=\"btn\" href=\"https:\/\/archway.ramapo.edu\/Green\/club_signup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ramapo Green Archway<\/a> <a class=\"btn\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/recycling-checklist\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Recycling Guidelines<\/a> <a class=\"btn\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/sustainability-at-home\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sustainability at Home<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><div class=\"infoBox col-sm-12 col-lg-12 \"><div class=\"boxTitle\">From Our Blog<\/div><div class=\"boxContent\"><\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/ramapo-green\/2022\/08\/03\/welcome-week\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"float: right; margin-left: 15px; margin-bottom: 15px; color: #000;\">August 3, 2022<\/span>Ramapo Green Welcomes you to Fall 2022...Join us...!<\/a><\/h4><p>Whether you are new to Ramapo College, or returning after the morass that is the past few years, we want you to know that we are back.
