{"id":5429,"date":"2018-06-01T11:08:48","date_gmt":"2018-06-01T15:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/catalog-2021-2022\/?page_id=5429"},"modified":"2018-06-01T11:08:48","modified_gmt":"2018-06-01T15:08:48","slug":"posthumous-degree","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ramapo.edu\/catalog-2021-2022\/academic-policies\/posthumous-degree\/","title":{"rendered":"Posthumous Degree"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ramapo College of New Jersey will award a posthumous degree under\u00a0certain circumstances.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A family member or other interested party of the deceased student may make a request for a posthumous degree through the Office of the Registrar.<\/li>\n<li>A posthumous degree may be awarded, if, at the time of death, the student has met one of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>He\/she is enrolled in the final semester of coursework to complete degree requirements.<\/li>\n<li>He\/she has completed at least 50% of the required number of credits for the appropriate degree (Bachelors or Masters) is in good standing with the college, (e.g., judicial, academic, etc.) and is recommended for the posthumous degree by the appropriate Academic Dean to the Registrar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Registrar will forward all recommendations for posthumous degrees to the Provost for approval.<\/li>\n<li>Notation that the degree is presented posthumously will appear on the transcript, on the diploma and in the commencement program.<\/li>\n<li>The diploma maybe presented during Commencement to a member of the student\u2019s family.
